Sustainable development goals: changing the world in 17 steps

United Nations General Assembly 3 August 2015 - The United Nations member states have agreed on new global Sustainable Development Goals for the year 2030. Delegates from 193 countries agreed in New York about a 30-page action plan. It says: "Our generation could be the first to eradicate poverty, as well as we could be the last to have the chance to save the planet".

The 17 goals which have been negotiated over two years are to be adopted at the UN Summit in New York in September of the Heads of States and Governments from around the world.
