"Le 21 mai 2010, les Etats Membres de l'Organisation mondiale de la santé (OMS) ont adopté le Code de pratique mondial pour le recrutement international des personnels de santé. Ce Code constitue la réponse des gouvernements au constat qu'une pénurie mondiale en personnel de santé affecte particulièrement les pays en développement et que ce problème tend à être aggravé par l'émigration du personnel de ces pays. Le Code vise ainsi à fournir des principes éthiques applicables au recrutement international des personnels de santé, de façon à tenir compte des droits et obligations des pays d'origine, des pays de destinations et des personnels de santé migrants."

Community Health Workers and Health Systems Strengthening (working title)

In this MMS Bulletin, we would like to discuss the potential of community health workers with a focus on middle and low-income countries (LMICs). Are CHWs pioneers in the strengthening of health systems and achieving health for all? Can this workforce compensate for the shortage of health workers? Which challenges and deficits exist in the health policies of many countries and which measures should be introduced (best practice examples) so that the potential of CHWs can be fully developed?
