| L’insertion d’une approche communautaire dans le système national sud-africain est le fruit de 20 ans de travail de base : en 2002 les Care groups sont enfin reconnus officiellement comme étant essentiels dans la lutte contre la pauvreté et par là dans le système de santé national.

| The Care Group movement in South Africa involves around 10 000 women in 300 villages, who have pledged themselves to promote health in their communities. Selina Maphorogo has worked with the groups since they began 25 years ago, and her ideas and leadership had a great influence on the way the movement developed. She has now described her experience in a book which will be published shortly. The title, "The community is my university" sums up one aspect of her experience. As an assistant nurse, with little formal education, she was originally assigned to the project as a translator. However, she soon realised that simply giving health educaion messages was not enough, and she started to talk to the people and learn from them and with them.

Und wo setzen schweizerische Organisationen in der Auseinandersetzung mit Gesundheit den Hauptakzent? Bei gesundheitsspezifischen Interventionen oder bei Interventionen in anderen Sektoren, die auch Auswirkungen auf die Gesundheit der Menschen haben? – Die Antworten auf eine von Medicus Mundi Schweiz durchgeführte Umfrage ergeben ein sehr vielfältiges Bild.

| Set up to improve health services to communities around the Elim Hospital, the Care Groups have, in turn, had an impact on the hospital. The history of the Care Groups illustrates both the tensions that can arise between private and state backers of a community health project, the need for the organizations funding a development project to take a long-term view, and the importance of individuals whose strength and personality can be crucial for the success of a project.

Am 11. Juni 2010 wird in Johannesburg die erste Fussball-Weltmeisterschaft auf afrikanischem Boden angepfiffen. Die MMS Netzwerkmitglieder mission 21 und DM-échange lancieren zusammen mit CEVI Schweiz bereits jetzt die Kampagne «Anstoss zum Ausgleich». Dazu gehören Benefizspiele zu Gunsten von Projekten in Südafrika sowie eine vielfältige Website. Sie enthält Hintergründiges ebenso wie Unterhaltsames ...

n juin 2010, la coupe du monde de football se déroulera pour la première fois sur le continent africain. Tout le monde se réjouit de cette fête du foot, qui sera joyeuse et colorée. Mais les habitant-e-s de ce pays en attendent plus : ils espèrent que leurs problèmes quotidiens et leurs conditions de vie ne seront pas mises « hors jeu » et oubliées.
