Between Trust and Frustration: Towards Better Balanced Aid Relationships

(E) Mozambique Nov.Found. | "Looking at the case of Mozambique, it has become clear that aid had somehow made difficult the materialization of the national sovereignty and the possibility of freely choosing the policies to implement. Aid came with imposition of prescriptions and questioning of the predominant development paradigm. Aid fragmentation forced us to devote more time and attention on managing processes rather than its content. Ill informed prescriptions by donors often failed because donors did not have a deep understanding of the real situation of the recipient country. Aid does help the development of poor countries. But its quality and quantity must be improved. For aid to be effective it must be provided in the right quantity, at the right time and under the right conditions, modalities and processes." Paris Deklaration: Wie wird öffentliche Entwicklungszusammenarbeit wirksam?

Oktober 2007 fand in Nicaragua ein internationales Forum statt, um die bisherige Beteiligung der Zivilgesellschaft bei der Umsetzung der Paris Deklaration zu analysieren, erfolgsversprechende Ansätze zu identifizieren und Vorschläge zur Verbesserung in die Debatte einzubringen. An dem Treffen mit VertreterInnen aus 18 Ländern Lateinamerikas und der Karibik nahm auch der INTERTEAM-Koordinator teil als Beobachter und als Repräsentant der schweizerischen NGOs, welche in den Ländern des Südens Entwicklungsprozesse fördern."

L'émigration du personnel de santé des pays du Sud: Une pénurie mortelle

(F) MdM | Selon l'Organisation Internationale des Migrations, l'Afrique a déjà perdu un tiers de son personnel qualifié et chaque année 20'000 personnes continuent à quitter le continent. Dans le même temps, la demande de personnel de santé augmente dans les pays à hauts revenus, qui ne forment pas assez de main d’œuvre et dont les besoins en soins de santé s'accroissent de jour en jour. Cette inégalité des services de soins entre pays en voie de développement et pays développés posent en dilemme éthique la question du recrutement des ressources humaines dans des pays qui sont déjà frappés par un manque important de personnel médical.
Interpellée par cette question sur ces projets, Médecins du Monde souhaite contribuer à la réflexion et mettre chaque acteur face à ses responsabilités. En collaboration avec la Policlinique Médicale Universitaire, MdM organise une conférence qui aura lieu le jeudi 27 novembre au CHUV à Lausanne.

Stoppt Gewalt an Kindern
(D) tdh | Kinder sind die Opfer verschiedener Formen von Gewalt, insbesondere im Kontext von Krisen und Katastrophen, wo ihre Rechte auf Schutz, ein sicheres Zuhause oder Ernährung gleichermassen verletzt werden. Aber auch in der Schweiz ist die Gewalt an Kindern verbreitet, häufig in Form von Misshandlungen im häuslichen Umfeld. Terre des hommes - Kinderhilfe (Tdh) lancierte deshalb Ende November eine mehrjährige Kampagne zum verstärkten Schutz der Kinder vor Gewalt, welche sich vor allem in Krisengebieten manifestiert.

HIV/Aids bleibt Priorität für die gesamte DEZA
(D) aidsfocus - DEZA | "In diesem Jahr haben sich weltweit 2,5 Millionen Menschen neu mit dem Aids-Erreger HIV angesteckt, während fast die gleich Anzahl Menschen an den Folgen von Aids gestorben ist. Laut dem Aidsprogramm der Vereinten Nationen, UNAIDS, werden Ende 2007 weltweit 33,2 Millionen Menschen mit dem HI-Virus leben. Diese Zahlen verdeutlichen, wie wichtig das internationale und bereichsübergreifende Engagement in der Bekämpfung von Aids weiterhin ist. Aus diesem Grund ist und bleibt HIV/Aids ein prioritäres Thema für die DEZA."
