Every year malaria infects about 247 million people and kills 1 million, 86% of them south of the Sahara. Malaria is especially dangerous for children aged under 5, for pregnant women and for persons infected with HIV. Switzerland supports the fight against malaria by means of multilateral and bilateral action as well as in the frame-work of the Swiss Malaria Group.
