A toolkit for solution focused memory work

In cooperation with terre des hommes schweiz, aidsfocus.ch produced the new toolkit “Treasure memories”. The biggest change to this new edition of the toolkit is the inclusion of the solution focused approach (SFA). Memory work helps people living with the virus or whose relatives are HIV-positive or have AIDS to confront and cope effectively with their personal situation, the disease, and an uncertain future.

Memory Books (Erinnerungsbücher), ursprünglich in der Arbeit mit aidskranken Eltern afrikanischer Herkunft entwickelt, sind gleichzeitig Lebensbücher. aidsfocus.ch hat in Zusammenarbeit mit terre des hommes schweiz ein neues Toolkit erarbeitet, welches über die Kreise der Aidsbetroffenen hinaus von Bedeutung ist.

Memory work est une approche flexible qui peut être développée et évoluer en continu au fil du travail concret. A cet égard, il est essentiel que, dans les différents contextes, les participant-e-s mettent l’accent sur le partage, la guérison et le développement de leurs propres forces et de leur confiance en soi. C’est une leçon tirée d’un atelier sur le Memory Work au Haïti.

Die Internationale Union der Gesundheitsförderungsorganisationen sowie die Gesundheitsförderung Schweiz als Gastgeber erwarten über zweitausend Fachleute und EntscheidungsträgerInnen aus der ganzen Welt, die in den Bereichen Gesundheitsförderung, öffentliches Gesundheitswesen und nachhaltige Entwicklung tätig sind.

Enfants du Monde unterstützt ihre Bildungs- und Gesundheitsprogramme nicht nur mit Finanzmitteln, sondern auch mit technischem Know-how, zum Beispiel mit der Ausbildung von Ausbildern, Lehrern, Pflegepersonal und dem Personal der lokalen Partnerorganisationen. Aus diesem Grund hat Enfants du Monde zwei neue Spezialistinnen angestellt. Fabienne Lagier ist die neue Stellvertretende Generalsekretärin und Spezialistin für Bildung. Sie hat während acht Jahren für die Direktion für Entwicklung und Zusammenarbeit in Bern gearbeitet. Cecilia Capello ist die neue Gesundheitsbeauftragte. Die Ärztin arbeitete als medizinische Koordinatorin für mehrere Nichtregierungsorganisationen in Afrika.

The global economic crisis that has induced cutbacks in the spending of Government and international donors also threatens efforts for an effective response to HIV and AIDS. On the other hand, HIV and AIDS with a present high of 33.4 million people living with HIV remains a serious global problem, reaching out beyond the health sector – and a united concerted effort is needed more than ever. Just before the World Aids Conference the Network Medicus Mundi Switzerland publishes its new edition of the Bulletin with contributions by Helena Zweifel, Andreas Loebell, Stefan Germann, Florence Ajok Odoch, Médecins sans Frontières, Susanne Rohner, Robin Gorna, Frank Mischo, Christoph Fux and Karolin Pfeiffer.

"Le « performance based financing » (PBF) dans le secteur de la santé a pris de l’ampleur ces dernières années. L’approche PBF est censée contribuer à l’amélioration de la performance des services de santé à travers un système de financement des extrants. Le Rwanda est l’un des premiers pays à avoir exploré l’approche PBF à travers des programmes pilotes et le premier à l’avoir mis à l’échelle nationale. En Afrique, le PBF s’impose de plus en plus dans les agendas internationaux et nationaux ; de fait, des ministères, des ONG et des bailleurs ainsi que des structures locales sont en train de développer l’approche et de la mettre en oeuvre. L’expérience du Rwanda a été documentée et publiée par plusieurs acteurs ; pourtant, le point de vue des ONG et du terrain n’a pas encore été partagé."

"Since 2000, the number of people with diabetes has more than doubled to 285 million. An increasing majority, over 200 million people, live in low-income and middle-income countries where few will benefit from the advances in today's issue. In developed countries, the link between diabetes and social disadvantage can also preclude access to advanced treatment." Against this background "The Lancet" published recently a special issue about diabetes.
