| Set up to improve health services to communities around the Elim Hospital, the Care Groups have, in turn, had an impact on the hospital. The history of the Care Groups illustrates both the tensions that can arise between private and state backers of a community health project, the need for the organizations funding a development project to take a long-term view, and the importance of individuals whose strength and personality can be crucial for the success of a project.

| La Réadaptation à Base Communautaire (RBC) est une stratégie pour surmonter des barrières, qui se posent aux Personnes en Situations de Handicap, si elles veulent réaliser le droit à la santé. al qui vise à l’égalisation des chances et à l’intégration sociale des personnes en situation de handicap. C’est une approche multi sectorielle qui repose essentiellement sur les structures et ressources existantes au niveau local.

On estime que le violent tremblement de terre survenu en Haïti a causé la mort de quelque 150'000 personnes. Une fois passée la phase d’aide urgente, il va s’agir de reconstruire le système de santé haïtien. Plusieurs organisations membres de Medicus Mundi Suisse sont présentes depuis longtemps en Haïti:
