Ensemble contre la malaria

SMG | "Malgré des décennies d'efforts, la malaria reste une maladie terriblement meurtrière qui menace plus d'un tiers de la population humaine. Un enfant en meurt toutes les 45 secondes... Cette exposition développée par le Swiss Malaria Group nous rappelle quelle en est la cause et pourquoi l'éradication de ce fléau, toujours espérée, n'est encore qu'un rêve lointain. Elle nous explique aussi les différentes voies qui sont explorées, souvent avec succès, pour lutter contre cette maladie."

MMS Workshop: NGO-Praxis zwischen Aktivismus, Wirkungsorientierung und wissenschaftlicher Grundlage

(D) MMS | Welche schweizerische NGO hat schon die Ressourcen eines Swiss TPH oder einer Novartis Stiftung? Die Frage stellt sich deshalb: Ist angewandte Forschung ein Luxus, den sich nur die Grossen leisten können? Können und sollen auch kleinere NGOs angewandte Forschung betreiben, zum Beispiel in Partnerschaft mit lokalen oder internationalen Forschungsinstitutionen? Was haben solche Institutionen NGOs zu bieten? Der Workshop von Medicus Mundi Schweiz vom 20. Juni 2012 in Basel bietet den Teilnehmerinnen und Teilnehmern eine Möglichkeit, ihre Erfahrungen auszutauschen und voneinander zu lernen.

Health District Management: Planning and Programme Design
Basel, 18 - 29 June 2012

Swiss TPH | The course aims at introducing the basic principles of strategic program and project management. It is based on exercises that simulate real problems in planning and management as closely as possible to real life situations. Participants are working in small groups (max. 6 members) and take the roles of a project design mission - the group work is supervised by experienced facilitators. Using the Logical Framework Approach and other tools they will go through all steps of such a planning process and will write a project proposal document.

Health District Management: Priority Setting and Resource Allocation

Swiss TPH | This two-weeks module is a simulation exercise applying the latest tools for assessing population health needs, establishing district intervention priorities, and allocating district health resources in a context of limited funding. In small groups participants take the roles of district health planning team members and will elaborate a full District Health Plan and Budget that responds to population needs, health system realities and resources, and contemporary evidence on effectiveness of interventions. During the learning process, students will apply practical computer-based tools and health information analyses to understand current coverage/access constraints retarding equity-effectiveness of a district health system. In addition they will set evidence-based priorities for intervention strategies, and allocate appropriate shares of resources to address population health need.

Summer School in Public Health Policy, Economics and Management

Swiss TPH | The Summer School is a joint venture of the Swiss School of Public Health+ (SSPH+), the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute (Swiss TPH) and the University of Lugano’s Institute of Economics. The offered courses are intended for professionals and managers (senior executives and middle managers) of health administrations, hospitals and other services and structures within the health sector, including Ministries of Health, and for participants of one of the postgraduate training programmes (MPH, MIH, PhD) of the SSPH+ and their partners.

Swiss Public Health Conference: (Re-)Organizing Health Systems

Public Health Schweiz | Wie in anderen Ländern hat sich auch in der Schweiz der Gesundheitszustand der Bevölkerung verbessert. Dies ist an gewissen Indikatoren wie der vorzeitigen Sterblichkeit oder der Gesundheit von älteren Personen zu erkennen. In einer zunehmend älter werdenden Bevölkerung nehmen jedoch auch beispielsweise die Häufigkeit der Pflegebedürftigkeit und degenerativer Krankheiten zu. Diesen Herausforderungen muss mit Anpassungen unseres Gesundheitssystems bei den Zielen, der Finanzierung und der Steuerung begegnet werden. An dieser Konferenz werden Aussichten und Strategien zur Erhaltung und Verbesserung sowohl der individuellen Gesundheit als auch der Gesundheit der Bevölkerung präsentiert, analysiert und diskutiert.

Rational Management of Medicines. A focus on HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria

Swiss TPH | Medicines are an essential and cost-effective tool of health care and an important element of health systems. Yet today, for millions of people worldwide essential medicines remain unavailable and unaffordable. Diseases of poverty including HIV/AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis tragically claim innumerable lives in low income countries. This two weeks course will be conducted in Pretoria, South Africa where a full range of public, private and NGO based health care facilities offer opportunities for first hand exposure.
