World TB Day: A serious and considerable threat to global health
The Lancet publishes a Series of Papers
The Lancet "Tuberculosis was declared a global emergency in 1993 by the WHO. 21 years after this declaration, the disease remains a serious and considerable threat to global health. For World TB Day 2014, The Lancet group joins the call for a global effort to find, treat, and cure all people with tuberculosis. Content published in The Lancet Infectious Diseases and The Lancet Respiratory Medicine, including five Comments and three Reviews, discuss topics ranging from host-directed therapies and vaccines, extremely drug-resistant tuberculosis, and new anti-tuberculosis drugs, highlighting not only past successes, but also the challenges that need to be met to win the battle against tuberculosis."
