Climate deterioration, pandemic, and war: the world is currently facing multiple crises, the management of which challenge societies worldwide and threaten to overwhelm international politics. Each crisis in itself and in their interaction worsen determinants of health, such as food security, social and economic development, equitable access to health care and social support structures. The MMS Symposium addressed the impact of these multiple crises on the most disadvantaged populations and discussed necessary responses from both Swiss and international policy makers. Do we need a change of system? Have the limits of growth been reached? To what extent have global multilateral mechanisms been disrupted? What do these developments mean for organizations working in the field of international health cooperation? How do they need to adapt to the changing environment? The speakers at the MMS Symposium agreed: there is an urgent need for action and time is running out. Detailed insights on these hot topics are presented in this bulletin.
