Situation in Nepal returning to normal

FAIRMED Political unrest cut Nepal off from the Indian market almost completely for five months. The lack of fuel, gas and medicines led to life-threatening shortages and the reconstruction of the country ground to a halt. However, current events are giving rise to hopes that normality will soon return to Nepal.

(...) The major challenge now is to return to normal and to the initial situation before the earthquakes. This process will take a long time: before the earthquakes, Nepalese society attached a great deal of importance to health services and people in need of help sought medical assistance. However, the shortage of goods in recent months has led to a change in priorities: many people have primarily invested their money in food, repairs and fuel, but at the cost of medical care. FAIRMED is therefore trying to convince the people in the affected areas again of the importance of good health and to encourage them to visit hospitals if necessary.
