Tackling malnutrition of children in Lesotho and Mozambique

SolidarMed SolidarMed is now tackling malnutrition in two countries. It is estimated that 45% of deaths among children are linked to malnutrition. Malnutrition during childhood has a lasting effect on children’s chance of survival and development. With funding from SwissSolidarity, SolidarMed started the project “Children’s Health First” in Lesotho. In Mozambique, a “Lean Season Nutrition Response and Resilience Building” - initiative funded by the World Food Programme and UKAID started in March.

In both countries, the aim is to improve decentralized health services (identification, treatment, follow-up) for malnourished children in marginalized regions and to sensitize communities to the problems of malnutrition.
