Oxfam report

Worldwide inequality is increasing rapidly

Oxfam International The global increase in social inequality is catastrophic: 82% of the global wealth generated last year went to the richest one percent of the global population - the poorest 50% of the world's population received nothing.

The new Oxfam report "Reward Work, not Wealth," points out that extreme inequality is trapping people in poverty and destroying social cohesion. Politicians should no longer stand idly by, because a major reason for this increasing imbalance is the avoidance of taxes by companies and super-rich. (Photo: campact/flickr, CC BY-NC 2.0)
