ESTHER Switzerland Il existe aujourd'hui de nombreux programmes destinés à améliorer la santé publique dans le monde, ce qui se traduit par la création de partenariats institutionnels en matière de santé. Ce mois-ci, nous célébrons la sortie de la nouvelle version de l'outil de l'Alliance ESTHER pour mesurer et améliorer son approche du partenariat. "ESTHER s'attache à aider les gens à travailler ensemble et à apprendre les uns des autres", explique Judith Safford, responsable du programme pour ESTHER Switzerland. "C'est très différent du projet de développement habituel, qui consiste à construire des hôpitaux ou à fournir de l'eau potable."

ESTHER Switzerland is pleased to announce the second COVID Partnerships conference organized in partnership between the ESTHER Alliance and THET. Participants will have the opportunity to reflect on what has been achieved by the Health Partnership community since our Partnerships in a time of COVID conference last April (https://buff.ly/3qpgQJE), and look to the future, recognizing the immense pressure that is now falling on health workers in every country. We are especially motivated to organize this free conference at this time, because of the increases in infections and the slow pace of vaccination campaigns in sub-Saharan Africa observed since the start of 2021. It feels important to look afresh at how the Health Partnership community is pulling together, when solidarity is more important than ever. We will meet with humility, recognizing that we have much to learn from each other.

Improving Health Service Quality through Health Partnerships

The ESTHER Alliance is pleased to invite to a joint event with WHO and THET:

ESTHER Alliance The institutional health partnership (IHP) approach has emerged as a successful means of global collaboration between health institutions in developing and developed countries. The power of partnerships working together has had a positive impact on health care services. (...) The shared practices and experiences of partnerships are a source of great learning for those undertaking similar collaborations. In this two-hour live web event, the WHO will set the scene by providing an overview of the seven characteristics of quality of health services. Afterwards, we will explore the inner workings of stand-out health partnerships operating in different contexts, driven by the common goal of improving quality of healthcare services.

ESTHER Switzerland ESTHER Phase 2: We are happy to announce that ISPM and SDC concluded an agreement for a new Phase of the program ESTHER Switzerland, starting December 1st, 2019. ESTHER is preparing to open a new Call for Proposal for grants to support projects within Institutional Health Partnerships (IHP) by mid-December 2019.

New partnerships for ESTHER Switzerland

ESTHER Switzerland ESTHER Switzerland is supporting 2 new projects through its start-up funds. The first focus on the setting up of a sustainable training collaboration in perinatal medicine between the University Hospitals of Lausanne (Switzerland) and Conakry (Guinea), and the second one on improving management of time-related complications in HIV patients in Cameroon.

ISPM sets up a new Research Group on Migration and Health

Institute of Social and Preventive Medicine (ISPM) Migration is a growing challenge and concern in our modern societies, especially if we consider public health related issues. In order to better coordinate on-going activities and to develop new projects, the ISPM is setting up a new Research Group on Migration and Health.

ESTHER Switzerland First Call for Projects

ESTHER Switzerland ESTHER Switzerland uses the twinning model to foster effective north-south and south-south partnerships that can build capacity of the health workforce and health institutions. It engages with the other European Members to develop a strong network of partnerships for development and health improvement. ESTHER Switzerland aims to strengthen health systems and particularly human resources so as to address health needs in developing countries. ESTHER partners work mostly in low and middle-income countries (LMIC) to tackle priority issues for health and help achieve the UN Global Goals for Sustainable Development. The Secretariat of ESTHER Switzerland is located at the ISPM in Bern. For its cooperation with ESTHER Switzerland during the period 2016-2018, the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) has established a fund that each year will make available up to CHF 300,000 for project grants and up to CHF 30,000 in start-up funds to assess new partnership projects that could be managed by ESTHER Switzerland. Typical projects financed within the SDC financing framework could aim at the training of staff (medical staff, nurses, etc.). Research projects (e.g., cohort studies) are outside the scope of the present financing framework.
